The Maikan developer (the “Developer”) sets out the following policy on how user information is handled in the iPhone app “Maikan” (the “App”).
1. Our approach
The App does not collect your personal information. All processing of your videos, photos, audio, and other media happens on your device, and nothing is sent to the Developer's or any third party's servers.
2. Information we do not collect
The App does not collect the following. The App contains no third-party tools (SDKs) for analytics, advertising, or crash reporting.
- Account information (the App has no account sign-up)
- Location, contacts, or device identifiers
- Usage analytics or advertising identifiers
- The videos, photos, and audio you use in the App, or their contents
3. Processing on your device
- Photo library: The App only reads the videos and photos you choose. iOS asks for your permission when you save an exported video to your photo library, and when you choose original videos used in your video to delete. Only the items you choose are deleted; after iOS confirms, they move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app.
- Auto captions: Speech recognition uses the iOS speech recognition feature and runs on your device. Language data needed for recognition is downloaded by iOS from Apple when required.
- Hide faces: Face detection and tracking use the iOS image analysis feature and run on your device.
- Noise reduction, exporting, and all other processing also run on your device.
4. Data storage
Your projects and imported media are stored inside the App, on your device. If you have iCloud Backup or a similar feature turned on, iOS may include them in your device backup. The Developer cannot access this data.
Deleting the App also deletes the data stored in it.
5. Purchases
In-app purchases are made through Apple's App Store. Payment information is handled by Apple and is never received by the Developer. To check whether you have made a purchase, the App reads your App Store purchase record on your device.
6. Crash information
If you have turned on “Share with App Developers” in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide the Developer with crash and performance information in a form that does not identify you. The Developer uses this information only to fix problems in the App.
7. Information received through inquiries
Information you send through the contact form on the Support page (Google Forms), such as your reply email address, is used only to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties except as required by law. Form submissions are stored on Google's services and handled under Google's Privacy Policy.
8. Children's information
The App does not collect personal information from any user, including children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will announce it on this page. For important changes, we will also let you know through an App update or similar means.
10. Contact
For questions about this policy, please use the contact form on the Support page.
